As we watch our nation circling the drain into what oblivion we know not, we are left with many questions about our future or if there is a future. A national anxiety exists at this time and we could, if we allow ourselves to, allow a spirit of hopelessness to evade any peace that we still possess and to decimate all hope that we still must have to run this race until it is finished.
We have to remember the words of Yeshua who told us to cast our burdens on him and to take his yoke upon us. He said that his yoke is easy and his burden is light. When I think about his words I am reminded of the steering of a car. Back before I was born, cars were scurrying here and there but they had one difficulty, that being that power steering had not been invented yet which made steering possible but made it very difficult. If you’ve ever had a car lose its power steering while driving you know what I am talking about. It is no wonder that women of my grandmother’s generation didn’t drive much if at all. Steering involved upper body strength that was challenging for men and all but impossible for women. Even today if the power steering goes out on a car or truck it makes for a difficult drive.

Notice that above I said that it made for a difficult driving experience. I didn’t say that it is impossible but that it is grueling. Applying this example into the everyday life that we have been forced to exist, it is almost amazing that people that don’t have Yeshua for his yoke and burden must live an exhausting life. For believers too it is hard when we forget to take on Yeshua’s yoke and we go from day to day having the power steering but forgetting to access it by attaching the drive belt to the pully wheel. Most ties we will remember Yeshua’s yolk, hopefully before we’ve gotten too involved in the loads that we are carrying, but it seems like human nature is programmed to trust in ourselves first before we trust in Yahweh. This is what Paul described as the flesh warring against the spirit.

The peoples of the world seem to be sensitized from birth where the nerve-wracking hardships of this world are concerned. We know this because all of us lived a life without a relationship with YHVH and we can remember what those days were like. It was that grueling life and the difficulty of walking without the yoke of Yeshua that drove us to our knees and deep humility and asking YHVH to take our burden away and with that we accepted his burden and his yoke. Living in this world without hope and faith is utterly impossible but mankind is stubborn and people start every day waking up to another day of trying to extract themselves from a deep well of chaos without even knowing that they are trapped by the confines of the deep hole.
Seeing the difference between those of us who are saved by grace and those who are perishing should remind us daily to lay our burdens down before Yeshua and gladly put on his yoke and to carry his burden. Seeing what seems to be a hopeless world situation with wars, rumors of wars, natural disasters, famine and a government that appears to be out to destroy us is a difficult thing. Even more difficult is the knowledge that things will probably get worse and even much worse before it will ever get any better, but we do have a blessed hope in the return of Yeshua and his gathering us as his people into heaven, and our return later with him when he comes to destroy wickedness and all evil.

YHVH has given us a creation fill of reminders that things always tend to get better with time and especially with his involvement with any and every matter. A forest might burn down but soon seedlings start out to renew the forest. With proper care, the worst of wounds heal and though a drought might occur it is always broken by a time of heavy rain. So, in this time of difficulty and woe let’s remember Yeshua, to talk to him and to take on his yoke and burden and casting our junk on him. In scripture it says, “you have not because you ask not,” so we should ask YHVH for everything, no matter how trivial we might think it is, or how we think that request is. Approach his throne of grace boldly and know that he cares for you. Finally, let the unsaved see how you handle situations. When you give your difficulties to Yeshua and he walks you through things the heathen will see it and it will cause them to come to him in droves asking for the living water.
